Caburn Telecom appoints Tom Macallister as Business Development Director

IoT connectivity partner Caburn Telecom has added Tom Macallister to its growing team. In his role as Business Development Director, Tom will be responsible for driving the company’s growth in the IoT marketplace, across sectors including healthcare, construction, vending and telematics.

Tom brings nearly 40 years’ experience in fixed and mobile telecommunications including roles at BT and Telefonica O2 UK. Most recently, he worked as an independent consultant for the NHS focusing on community service effectiveness, as well as on a number of telehealth projects.

Matthew Owen, Managing Director at Caburn Telecom, said: ‘‘Tom is very well known and respected in the mobile industry and brings a wealth of experience in business development and consultancy. This is an exciting time for Caburn as we expand into international markets and I’m thrilled to welcome him on board.’’

Tom said: “I’ve known some of the key players in the Caburn Telecom team for a long time and am delighted to join them as they continue to expand into new markets and sectors. The Internet of Things is seeing massive growth but, without connectivity, none of it works. This role will give me the opportunity to help organisations achieve more from their IoT strategy, offering precise visibility and control over even the largest global SIM estates.’’

Tom has a BA (Hons) in Business Administration from Leeds Metropolitan University, an MSc in Telecommunications Business Management from University College London and a Certificate of Advanced Programme Management in Telecommunications from the University of Southern California.
